Medicine for the soul

Can anyone tell me why I have a note in my iPhone that simply states, “Minoans”?

That tweet was sent out into the world last night by none other than yours truly. A few hours later, I realized that it was the start to a library book list. I clearly wanted to learn more about the prehistoric culture that inhabited the Aegean, specifically Santorini & Crete, until being wiped out by a massive volcano in the second millennium BCE. Ahem.

I love books. And I love libraries. Where they give you books for free. FREE! And now, I love them even more for a different reason. I love them, because I can bring Elia to baby story time nearly any day of the week at the various libraries in our county. (Why do libraries hate babies on Fridays?) It’s my new favorite thing to do with her. Projecting, much?

I’d like to believe that I’m not. She’s paid attention when we read to her for months. And she shows a clear preference for certain books (as gauged by the frenzy with which she kicks and whips her legs around when we show her the covers). She actually watches the whole time the librarian reads. She loves the bubbles at the end and studying the other babies. She does not; however, know what to do when we all sing our little baby songs. Truthfully, I don’t either, but we deal with it because that’s what gets us to the books. Is it truly sad that I’m already  dreaming about walking with her to the library and returning with a stroller loaded with books?

Simply adorkable, as Ashley would say.

Taking it all in
