I’ll try to skip the cliches about blinking and suddenly having a 6 month old. Truth is, you still aren’t letting me sleep, so it’s not unreasonable that I think it’s just been one long day.
This month has been astounding as far as growth – physically and developmentally. You had an explosion during our trip to New Orleans – must have been all the good Cajun food! We brought home a completely different baby from the one we took down there. You started rolling and sat unassisted on the same day – and what was cool is that it was while we were all at the beach but stuck in our condo from the storm. Both your moms, your maw maw and your poppy were there to see you roll. And we were so excited that we all jumped up to cheer, scaring the ever lovin’ poop outta you. In fact, we’re lucky you’re still rolling.
Your depth perception has improved greatly, meaning that you can grab what you want, instead of flailing your hand in its general direction. This means that mommy needs to rethink her jewelry decisions and that Ouzo’s life may never be the same.
The babbling and squealing is just awesome and not a horrible way to wake up. You can officially say “mum mum mum” and use it when you’re upset and want to be cuddled, but I’m still not sure you’re actually addressing us. Time will tell!
One of the biggest firsts has been your first taste of real foods. So far, we’ve made you carrots and butternut squash. You liked the carrots ok, but LOVED the butternut squash. It’s been too cute to see you explore these new foods and we can’t wait to try new flavors. Oh, and then there was this:
This month we’ve also been playing around with EC and signing – I guess we’ll see where that goes with time.
So, yes, it’s been a whirlwind and we’re just trying to keep up!
