5 Months!

Happy 5 months, Elia Grace!

It’s been a fun month. She’s becoming SO active and interested in everything. I can barely feed her any more because of how distracted she’s become. With every new sight and sound, she snaps her head to me with huge eyes, as if asking what it is and if it’s safe. So I repeat “it’s ok, that was just xxx” about 1,000 times a day.

Her sleeping has leveled out for the most part. She’ll go 8pm to 6 or 7am with a wake up between 12:30 and 3. She refuses to nap in her crib though. And the more I tried, the more it seemed to affect her bedtime routine. So we’ve given that up for a while. So for now, she naps in her car seat (if she fell asleep while out and about or while on a walk/jog in the jogging stroller), in the Beco or sling, or, much more often, in her most favoritest spot, in mama or mommy’s lap. She’s also *thisclose* to rolling from back to front and sitting up on her own.

We’ve joined 2 play groups this month and we’ve I’ve really enjoyed them. It’s great to get out and meet new moms in the same place in their parenting journey. So far Elia could really care less, but she indulges me about twice a week and is a really good sport about it. She’s the youngest in both groups and just stares and smiles as all the babies come crawling up to her to check her out.

Play date in the park.

In a classic FTM moment, I rushed her to the doctor last Friday, convinced that she had an ear infection. I described all the symptoms only to be told by the doctor, “you just described teething.” It also turned out to be a little cold, so there were a few really rough days at the end of the month. It was absolutely pitiful to see our usual happy, smiley baby so miserable!

The next few months will be interesting as we take Elia to the beach, then home to New Orleans to meet the family. Then, in October, we’re flying to San Antonio to visit my dad and for Trinity Alumni Weekend. It’s a little overwhelming to think about all we have to pack but I’m really excited too. She’s a pretty easy-going little girl so it’ll hopefully be pretty smooth!

Ahhh, couldn’t you just eat her up?
